EDGE is the first piece of furniture I ever made. Using NSW Ironbark hardwood, I built this piece over the course of the first semester of my final year at university.

This was designed for a class where we were paired with a local bespoke furniture retailer, MIKO, in Fyshwick. With that retailer in mind the task was to design and produce either a wall light, a hanging light, a side table, or a low table. I chose to make a low table.

This project sparked my love for furniture and bespoke woodworking. I had previously dabbled in woodworking but never tackled such an immense project. It was a huge learning experience, with many challenges along the way.

A particular challenge was the idea of designing for a client. So far in my education, I had only really ever designed for myself. Switching to a different perspective and trying to figure out challenges through the eyes of a client was a very difficult thing to do. Thankfully we had the owner of the store along the way providing feedback and help the whole time, so we were able to work closely with him during the process.
